Paperwork is complete

October 28, 2010

I didn't realize how much paperwork was involved with the buying of real estate!  I was advised by the salespeople and friends to make sure I have a lawyer go over the agreement.  So, after calling around, I found a nice lawyer who actually gave  me an itemized list of what she will do and how much it would cost!  I didn't even have to leave the office..just scan and email her the agreement.  She found a few things, but mostly it had to do with the capping of certain closing costs.  I sent the changes off to the builder, and they of course agreed to the  capping but made them higher.

Next came the mortgage.  While I had already gone to my bank to see how much I qualified for, it is important to get a "locked in" rate for the interim.  The nice part was, the bank representative of the builder called me and when she found out that I was already her bank's customer..I didn't even have to fill in an application..she would already have the information....sweet...again I didn't have to leave the office.  I got a locked in rate, and if the rates go down, I will get that..if they go up, the lowest rate stands, can't get a better deal than that.

So I'm all set..now just wait...here is the piece of land that will become a subdivision sometime in the next year or two.
